Last year we started working with SoundCloud to add the ability for artists to add Flattr buttons directly in the SoundCloud player. Now we are happy to announce that we have taken this one step further in making all SoundCloud tracks and users flattrable.
So how does this work? What happens with the money if a SoundCloud user is not signed up with Flattr yet? The answer is simple: the money (or clicks) stays in a pending state until the artist signs up with Flattr and connects their SoundCloud account.
If you are a developer, perhaps making a music player that can play SoundCloud tracks, it is very easy to integrate a Flattr button that works for all tracks on SoundCloud. Just include the Flattr API script in your HTML and place an <a class=”FlattrButton” href=”…”>
tag wherever you want a Flattr button to appear.
For example, this button will Flattr a SoundCloud track:
… and this will Flattr a user:
Note that you only provide a URL – Flattr takes care of looking up the correct title and description and makes sure that only the correct artist can claim the money waiting for them.
